In 1993, APMG introduced the first Gamma Knife to China to be used
in clinical treatment, which is common called "non-invasive treatment for brain tumors".
A Peacock System for Intensity Modulated Radiation
Therapy (IMRT), was
introduced to the Hospital in 1999. Using the stereotactic technique, Peacock treats
tumors of various locations including brain tumors, head and
neck tumors, lung cancer, esophagus cancer, breast cancer, hepatic
cancer, pancreas cancer, prostate cancer, etc.
As of today, the Hospital has successfully
treated about 10,000 patients, surpassing all other domestic
hospitals. In the year 2003, 1,265 brain tumor treatments have been successfully completed,
which is the highest number of cases being treated by a single gamma knife machine in the world.
