[Academic Title]:Professor of neurosurgery, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Dr. Wang Zhong Cheng is a pioneer in China's development of neurosurgical science. In the past 50 years, he devoted himself in the systematic study and clinical practice of the diagnosis, treatment, scientific research, teaching and prevention of neurosurgical diseases where he made outstanding achievements. He is especially exceptional at the treatment of tumors in the central nervous system, cerebrovascular diseases and head injuries. Dr. Wang published in the early sixties Cerebral Angiography, the first book on neurosurgery in China, followed by a dozen or more books including Neurosurgery- Volume 1: Head Injuries, Volume 2: Intracranial Tumors and Volume 3: Spina Cord Neoplasm, Cerebrovascular Diseases and Their Surgical Treatment, Atlas for Neurosurgical Operations, etc, as well as over 300 papers. Up to the present time, he has provided tutoring to 49 post-graduate and doctoral students and training to thousands of advanced study trainees nationwide, with many of the students having become the mainstay of China's neurosurgical science. Dr. Liu A Li, director of the Center, is also one of Dr. Wang's students. Dr. Wang's outstanding accomplishments have won him many awards and titles, including quite a few Scientific Advancement Awards granted by the state, the Ministry of Health and Beijing municipality, as well as the titles of "Advanced Worker of the National Medical System", "Excellent Worker of Science and Technology of the State", etc. The Hong Kong Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation also awarded him the Prize of Advancement of Science and Technology in 1997. |
